DTN COMMENTS:  A few live steers have been reported sold in parts of 
Eastern Nebraska at midday. But the South remains very quiet at this 
point. Yesterday saw a light trade in the North with dressed deals 
ranging from $340 to $345, $11 to $16 higher than the prior week's 
weighted averages. The South remained at a standstill. Packer inquiry 
will need to improve as the day progresses, especially in Kansas and 
Texas where cattle movement has been minimal. At this point, some asking 
prices are around $226 to $228 in the South, and $346-plus in the North. 

Beef cutouts are lower at midday (choice 362.68 -0.04, select 349.48 -
0.84) with light to moderate box movement (81.03 lds of choice cuts, 8.93 
lds of select cuts, 0.00 lds of trim, and 10.25 lds of ground). Near the 
top of the noon hour live cattle futures are mostly modestly to 
moderately higher, while feeder contracts are sharply higher.
