DTN COMMENTS: A few asking prices are being reported in parts of Texas
at $245 to $247. Bids and asking prices in other feeding areas remain
very elusive. Having said that, packer inquiry should improve as the day
progresses, but it is possible that significant trade volume could be
delayed until sometime tomorrow. Beef cutouts are expected to be lower
with light to moderate box movement.
For the period of January 30 to February 05, net beef sales of 15,700 MT
for 2026 were down 21 percent from the previous week and 1 percent from
the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for South Korea (7,800
MT), Japan (1,900 MT), Mexico (1,800 MT), Hong Kong (1,500 MT), and
Taiwan (1,300 MT). Exports of 11,700 MT were down 10 percent from the
previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average. The
destinations were primarily to South Korea (3,800 MT), Japan (3,700 MT),
Mexico (1,100 MT), Taiwan (1,100 MT), and Hong Kong (800 MT).
NOTE: Feedlots are encouraged to call DTN with any cattle sales, at
